Facilities Projects

This page contains information regarding ongoing facilities improvement projects being conducted throughout the district. Ongoing capital projects and projects that have been completed in the past year are as follows:

  • The High School guidance office was completely remodeled. During the remodeling all carpeting and asbestos floor tile was removed and replaced with vinyl clad tile.
  • Phase 2 of the High School roof replacement has been completed.
  • Roof and Boiler replacement at Gribbin School has been completed. The new roof and modern boiler will provide significant energy savings to the district.
  • The roof replacement at Deasy School has been completed.
  • The cornice replacement project on the 1910 Middle school has been completed.
  • Both Gribbin and Landing Schools will be receiving new playground in the spring of 2012.
  • The new ADA compliant concrete walkway and stair leading to the High School track are on schedule for spring of 2012.
  • The schools are being transitioned to green cleaning systems. These systems are designed to provide a healthier safer learning environment.
  • The High School Locker rooms are scheduled to be replaced in the summer of 2012.

*Note: All work associated with the removal of the asbestos vinyl floor tile was done in accordance with all state and local codes and complies fully with all Department of Labor standards. There is no threat of asbestos contamination in the building either prior to or as a result of this work. Because the floor tile contains asbestos fibers as a binder, it is deemed an asbestos abatement. At no time have any asbestos containing fibers from floor tile become air borne
