Dear Finley Middle School Community,

I hope this letter finds you enjoying these last days of summer and I hope that your summer was full of fun, time with friends and family, and that you are as excited to start a new year as we are.  It is my goal to continue to do my part in fostering the sense of community that was felt last year here at Finley.  I hope that those of you who are returning to Finley will join me in welcoming our incoming 6th Graders and others who may be new to our school community. It is important that we communicate our values to our new family members that at Finley, respect for all, treating others the way we wish to be treated, and maximizing our potential, are paramount.

Over the last week or so I have had conversations with several parents regarding the recently released NYS ELA and Math scores; we share your concerns.  As a faculty, we will be working diligently to review our testing data and collaborate on ensuring that we meet the individual needs of our students.  I look forward to sharing much of what we will be doing in this area with parents regularly as the year progresses.

In an effort to more effectively serve our students we will be restructuring our guidance counselor case load, as well as the case load of students our two assistant principals will be managing. Each year guidance counselors and assistant principals will loop-up with students as they progress through the grade levels during their time with us.

I also invite you to routinely visit this webpage, where we will regularly post important information. Be sure to check out the link where anyone can anonymously report bullying and/or harassment.

Sincerely,
